Scality’s leaders have created Le Club in order to recognize and reward team members selected each year for their exceptional contribution to the company.
Together with this acknowledgment, Le Club members are also offered the opportunity of taking a trip together, to rest and enjoy the Scality spirit outside the workplace.
For the year 2016, 16 employees have been chosen. Scality will publish a portrait of different team member once a week.

“A Fulfilled Man”
“What’s really important to me in life, is to be able to do a job that I’m really passionate about, and today that’s exactly what I am doing”. Benjamin Allot is a contented man. He’s only been at Scality for a year but he already feels completely free to use his talent. As a packaging engineer, his role is to assemble the different parts of the Scality software into a package so that they can then be installed at the client. Everyday it’s with pleasure that he goes to work. “In our team we constantly exchange ideas and we learn a lot from each other, this is something both new and enriching for me,” he says.
It’s taken Benjamin a rather long time to reach this point in his career. After having qualified at Epitech computer school in Paris, he was recruited by a bank as a systems administrator. He worked at different banks and insurance companies for 8 years in the same role. Ultimately bored by the lack of creativity, he decided to change course. “I felt totally trapped in this career and so I said to myself I must do something different which will allow me to really express myself,” he confides.
Today at 32 years old, Benjamin can finally give his imagination free rein. “When I have an idea, even when I’m not at work, I want to try it out straight away on my computer,” he reveals. “It’s so interesting, I don’t notice the time go by.” It was in this way that Benjamin created a valuable tool that is used to quickly and easily test a modification made to a software. Although originally developed for personal use, this device was keenly adopted by a dozen of his coworkers at Scality, and it’s why Benjamin was elected to be a Le Club member. “Benjamin personifies the passion and the creativity that one expects from a developer in a start-up, someone who thinks up ideas of his own initiative,” says one of his colleagues.
Everything at work makes Benjamin happy. “We’re very well taken care of at Scality,” he says. “There are lots of little bonuses that I really appreciate, like the fact that we have our midday meal prepared for us and we can have personal trainers who come to the office.”
Hyperactive, Benjamin doesn’t sit still for a second. Once he’s finished his day at work, he dashes to pick up his son from the nanny before going home to look after him. Then in the evening he does badminton lessons or takes part in a competition. Sport has always played an important part in Benjamin’s life. Since his youth he has played rugby, tennis and handball, as well as badminton, and even enjoyed ballroom dancing with his partner for 7 years. Incidentally, Benjamin never misses an opportunity to dance. At Scality parties, where all the employees and the customers are invited, he likes to teach rock’n’roll lessons to the guests.
Regarding his future, Benjamin doesn’t have any grand career plans since he is really satisfied where he is. “I would like to continue to learn new things and always improve in what I do,” he says. “Apart from that, I wouldn’t change a thing.”
